Spot Framework

We started with the AI Town repository from a16z as our foundation, inspired by Stanford’s research on “Generative Agents: Interactive Simulacra of Human Behavior” (arXiv). This tech stack brings human-like behaviors to life in virtual environments, powered by LLMs, memory management systems, and autonomous decision-making agents. Imagine human-like interactions—but smarter and more dynamic.

What we’ve built, however, goes beyond an AI experiment; it’s a step toward creating interactive, self-sustaining virtual worlds. Our custom agentic layer ensures that every interaction feels immersive and real. Here’s how we’re leveraging LLMs and vector databases/embeddings to push the boundaries:

Immersive Agent Interactions

Simple rules like conversation length often break immersion. Instead, our models analyze context to determine when an agent should gracefully end a conversation. To ensure scalability, we deploy smaller models for these evaluations, as they occur multiple times during a single interaction.

Dynamic Social Decision-Making

Agents reflect on memories from previous interactions and decide who to engage with—or whether to engage at all—based on meaningful reflections and context.

Emotionally Rich Animations

Agents don’t just respond; they react with context-driven animations and emotions, creating experiences that feel truly alive.

For cost-effective scalability, we dynamically choose the most appropriate LLM size for each task, balancing performance with resource efficiency.
